There’s a very interesting new development in television advertising delivery which, in our opinion, will make TV an extremely well targeted, and very affordable medium, for the first time, to low budget advertisers.
It’s called Sky Adsmart, and was launched early 2014, offering the ability to target very specific demographic groups. However, more importantly to us in terms of our offering to local advertisers, from late 2014, we can target TV commercials to specific postcode areas.
If you are, say, only interested in consumers with BH postcodes you can buy TV airtime on the Sky platform exclusively targeted to BH postcodes only. Not only that, but you only pay for the ads which are actually delivered and viewed, unlike terrestrial TV.
The implications for low budget advertisers are potentially game changing. No longer will you be considering the Meridian ITV area as a whole, with all it’s cost implications, and geographical wastage factor. No longer will you be concerned about time shift viewing, and other distracting elements which can reduce your potential audience reach.
You will still need a compelling message, and high quality commercial production, especially when working to a tight budget. You also need some strategic thinking to maximise the impact of your campaign and deliver more business.
